About BREA

The Buffalo Ridge Educational Alliance (BREA) is a volunteer organization similar to a parent-teacher organization (PTO) whereby parents provide a voice, fundraising efforts and teacher support.  Many great things are planned for this school year thanks to the time and energy of your BREA leaders and their committee members.

The BREA is always looking for friendly parents to join the fun!  You can help make Buffalo Ridge an amazing school for our kids by volunteering.

BREA Executive Board for 2011- 2012

Co-Presidents: Christina Duncan and Becky Anderson

- The President runs all the Executive Board and General BREA meetings as well as appoints all standing committee chairs. The President works closely with the Principal to make sure the BREA promotes and protects the policies, programs, and services of BRE.

Secretary: Jill Johnson

- The Secretary records the minutes of all BREA meetings and then ensures distribution of those minutes to Board members as well as making the minutes accessible to BRE parents through school communications (the BREA website).  The Secretary is also responsible for writing all thank you notes for the Board as well as reading all correspondence at the General Meetings.

Treasurer: Karin Miller

- The Treasurer is responsible for all financial transactions on behalf of the BREA. This includes managing and recording all incoming to and outgoing money from BREA.  The Treasurer updates and provides a Monthly Financial Report to the Executive Board to monitor funds throughout the year.

Co-VP’s of Communication: Sandy Cranston & Elean Gersack

- VP of Communications is responsible for all communications between the BREA Board and the BRE staff and parents through the BREA website, emails, and fliers.

VP of Ways and Means: Jennifer Krumenauer

- VP of Ways and Means is responsible for organizing and coordinating the fundraising activities and Family Nights for BRE. Committees associated with fundraising and Family Nights report to the VP of Ways and Means.  The VP is the liaison between the BREA Board and the fundraising committees.  The VP is available to assist as needed on each of the committees.

VP of Student Activities: Shannon McQueen and Nicole Wight

- VP of Student Activities is responsible for overseeing many events throughout the year ranging from Family Movie Night to Evening With The Arts to Staff Appreciation Activities.  The VP serves as a liason between the committee chairs and the BREA.

VP of Hospitality: Michelle Rafter

- Our Hospitality co-chairs (with the support of volunteers at BRE) are responsible for coordinating snacks, drinks, and dinners for activities and events such as Parent/Teacher conferences, Kindie/New Parent Coffees, CSAPS, and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Room Parent and Volunteer Liaison: Lesley Gibson

- Our Room Parent and Volunteer Liaison works with all classroom room parents and teachers to ensure communication between the BREA and classrooms.  The Room Parent Volunteer Liaison also manages the volunteers database to help committee chairs organize volunteers for events.
